Nutrition Services of Shelby County was designed in 1996, for seniors over age 60 who are in need of a hot meal on a daily basis. Seniors may receive hot meals one of two ways.

Receive Hot Meals each day
Fair Haven’s cost per meal is $5.50. This program is funded in part by an AAA grant and the Ohio Passport Program. Assessments may be done to receive AAA grant assistance.

Home Delivered Meals
You will need : name, address, phone number, and date of birth. Once assessments are finalized, the senior may become a recipient.
A hot meal is delivered between 10:30 and 1:30 Monday thru Friday depending on the client’s needs, to the home of each client.
Convenient Cafeteria Style
Hot lunches are provided at two nutrition sites. The Sidney site at The Senior Citizen Center at 304 South West Street is Monday thru Friday. Clients are encouraged to come to the sites, if possible, and enjoy good conversation and a nutritious meal. Mealtime is 11:15 and bingo is played every day. The Houston Congregational Christian Church at 4883 Russia Houston Road, Houston, Ohio is open on Thursday. The meal is served around 12:30 with the occasional card games afterwards.
The Shelby County Dial a Ride provides transportation to the senior center.
The Shelby County Community Action Commission provides transportation to both sites.
